How Nova Scotia selects candidates

You submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) with your documents. Nova Scotia doesn't publish a points grid or draw scores. It selects from the pool according to its priorities, which in 2026 are previously published priority occupations, with international recruitment focused on healthcare, skilled trades and critical community services.

In July 2026, Nova Scotia announced a one-time expansion for active EOIs submitted on or before 30 June 2026, for people already working in the province with a work permit expiring in 2026 or earlier who meet one of these conditions:

Since 18 February 2026 there are four - Nova Scotia Graduate, Skilled Worker (with construction and physician criteria), Entrepreneur (with international graduate criteria) and Nova Scotia - Express Entry. They replaced ten former streams. The Atlantic Immigration Program is separate.

Who does Nova Scotia prioritize in 2026?

Candidates in previously published priority occupations, with international recruitment focused on healthcare, skilled trades and occupations supporting critical community services.
